It’s an absolute fact that Disney Imagineers take great care in setting the scene with thoughtful details. Next time you’re visiting Disneyland take a moment to see how many mailboxes you can spot! These mailboxes actually open, you can really put mail in them and your mail will be picked up and taken to the Anaheim post office!

There are over a dozen mailboxes sprinkled throughout five of Disneyland’s lands. Fantasyland used to have one mailbox outside of the Castle Holiday Shoppe (with a Hidden Mickey on it too!) but when that shop was recently changed to be Merlin’s Marvelous Miscellany, the mailbox was removed. Here’s hoping it comes back sometime soon! The mailbox—seen above on Valentine’s Day in the land that was then called Critter Country—is now outside of the revamped Rey’s Berets shop in what is now called BAYOU Country. Disney California Adventure also has mailboxes but not as many. It’s also worth noting that there are some mailboxes around Disneyland Resort that are purely decorative.

Having a wonderful time, wish you were here!
You can usually find a small selection of postcards for sale in the Disneyland Resort—or you can bring your own. So far I’ve created three types of Postcard Pals Packs that include postcards, a pen and postcard stamps in a carrying pouch. It’s so fun to take a break in the park, write postcards and mail them from Disneyland!
Special Thanks!
A huge thank you to my pal Clocky of Sent From Disneyland fame who made sure I got my facts straight for this post. Clocky shares the history of various Disney postcards in his podcast and sends mail from the parks each time he visits.
