Once upon a time, an Author, Illustrator, Graphic Artist and Disney Fan named Shannon W. Laskey decided to create a fun and interactive book about Disneyland. This first Going To Guide was published by Orchard Hill Press in 2015 with two more books (about DCA and Magic Kingdom) releasing shortly afterwards. Shannon first got the idea for the book series when planning a trip to Disneyland with her two young sons. She went to the library to get a guidebook for kids about the park and was surprised to find out there weren’t any. There were books about how to go to Disneyland WITH kids but nothing FOR kids – or kids at heart. Shortly after that first book was published, Shannon opened up the GTG Etsy shop filled with fun goodies made from the whimsical art in the book. Since then the shop has grown to include items made independent of the books including bandanas, tote bags, blank journals called Imaginotebooks and much more! When the shutdown of 2020 hit, Shannon spent most of her year hunkered down creating a card game called Park Pair Up which debuted as a “Best Seller” on Etsy. Shannon lives in Northern California outside of San Francisco with her husband and younger son while the elder son is off at college. She runs Going To Guides and her graphic design business (Small Dog Workshop) from her home office which she’s dubbed The Pink Palace. Thanks for stopping by and getting to know more about GTG!
